For years, pupils at Nsungwale primary schools had used the makeshift structure as their classroom. Well, it protected them from the sun but one can only guess what happened when it rained or got too cold as the structure had open areas.

In the after-math of the Cyclone Idai disaster which hit Chimanimani and Chipinge districts of Zimbabwe, Save the Children saw it fit to assist areas affected through the supporting placement of District Nutrition Coordinators (DNC) at health facilities. The Nutrition Coordinators are workingwith communities in fighting malnutrition thorough supporting Village Health Workers, active screening for Malnutrition, conducting counselling sessions and facilitating trainings on prevention of Malnutrition.

Recently, Save the Children Zimbabwe was joined by its donors, partners, civic society organisations, government representatives, and the media in celebrating 100 years of making a difference in children’s lives. The centenary celebrations were held in Harare.

Save the Children has been supporting health facilities in Chipinge and Chimanimani Districts of Zimbabwe through providing food, beds, blankets for use by mothers at the Waiting Mothers Shelters.

With the Cyclone Idai that struck Zimbabwe in Chimanimani and Chipinge early this year, most Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) have been on their toes assisting communities that were affected by this disaster. To cool-off from a such busy schedule, more than 20 organizations including Save the Children came together for the 2019 NGO games which were held on Saturday at Barclays Sports Club in Harare. All present organisations competed against each other in various sporting disciplines which include Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball, Netball, Basketball and Pool.
