Empowering traditional leaders to raise awareness on Covid-19 in communities

Save the Children has been supporting the Ministry of Health and Child Care in facilitating COVID-19 sensitisation and awareness raising trainings for traditional leaders in Hwange district. The leaders were trained on what COVID-19 is, how it is transmitted, how to protect oneself to avoid contracting it, how to handle suspected COVID-19 case in the community, as well as requirements for COVID-19 burials in the community.

Elderly couple desperate for food amid a coronavirus pandemic

Save the Children and its implementing partners World Vision and Care have been supporting over 80 000 vulnerable and food insecure families through its food and cash transfer project in Mbire, Matobo, Mwenezi and Beitbridge district. Leonora (65) who is blind was among the elderly people supported by the project.

Food Aid for Child-headed Households in Zimbabwe

Through financial support from European Union/ ECHO, Save the Children and its implementing partners World Vision and Care have been supporting the most vulnerable and food insecure families through the food and cash transfer project. The project has assisted 80 000 food insecure households across four districts of Zimbabwe. Muchengeti was among the people supported by the project.

Meet Eugenia: A Community Hero in the COVID-19 era

Zimbabwe has been in lockdown since the end of March, and all schools were closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To support communities during this period, Save the Children introduced the "Education Cannot Wait" Project in Chitungwiza and Epworth towns, where 200 community facilitators including Eugenia were trained and have been conducting door to door home visits in the community.
