Turning to Climate Smart Agriculture to Outsmart Climate Change

As the world grapples with the impacts of climate change and seeks sustainable solutions to mitigating them, Save the Children in partnership with ICRISAT is scaling up climate smart agriculture in Matobo and Beitbridge districts located in the driest southern regions of Zimbabwe. The initiative is being implemented under the Stepping-up Post-Emergency Recovery and Resilience to Empower Vulnerable Communities in Zimbabwe (SUPER-EVC) project funded by European Union.

Construction of Guzha Fresh Produce Market Underway

A new fruit and vegetable market is under construction at Guzha Growth point in Manyame district (Seke), much to the delight of many farmers and vendors. The huge modern market is being constructed through funding from Save the Children and the European Union.

Support to Children Living with Disabilities Pays Off

Ennert Date, 14, is one of the visually impaired children from Mbire district, who benefitted from Save the Children’s Inclusive Education initiative, which provided braille equipment and learning materials for use at Mahuwe Primary School’s Resource Centre for visually impaired children.

Continuing the Fight Against COVID-19

Thousands of people in Kariba district are estimated to have benefitted from Save the Children’s road campaign against COVID-19. The campaign supported by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance was conducted during a period the district witnessed a spike in COVID-19 cases and deaths leading to the Government of Zimbabwe announcing a two week localized lockdown for the district.
