Prioritise Children in Covid-19 response
Following the WHO declaration of Covid-19 as a pandemic on 11 March 2020, Zimbabwe recorded its first case on the 20 March. The number of cases recorded in the country have been growing since then. Zimbabwe instituted a number of Covid-19 emergency preparedness and response measures to curb the spread of the virus. Notable initiatives implemented at national level include establishing Covid 19 screening, treatment and isolation centres as well as awareness raising initiatives. A glaring gap in the country’s response plans was the non-prioritisation of children. Save the Children issued a statement calling on the government of Zimbabwe to prioritise children in the overall Covid-19 response. To read the statement, click the link below:
