Child Campaigning Specialist

The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting internal opportunity for you to join the Centre as the Child Campaigning Specialist. Open to internal Save the Children International employees, Save the Children member office employees and Alumni only.

Role Purpose:

Save the Children is building a fresh approach to campaigning – our work to engage publics to shift political conditions for changes in policy and practise for children. Our campaign model centres child campaigning alongside supporting partnerships and movements, and creative storytelling to generate political momentum for change. The Child Campaigning specialist is a critical role to help us realise this vision and build powerful campaigning for and with children. 

The Child Campaigning specialist is responsible for driving and delivering Save the Children’s approach to child campaigning around the world. This role will help ensure child campaigning and child participation as a central and leading element of our long-term global campaigning ambition. The role will also help build and nurture partnerships with wider youth and child led movements to achieve change for children.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Experience of leading and supporting child and/or youth activism in a global context across a range of cultures, especially using a variety of tools and approaches to engage with children from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience and commitment in the development of impactful campaigns, using a range of campaigning and movement building tactics
  • Creative flare, with experience of a range of campaigning techniques and approaches; with strong digital literacy in approaches to inspiring change
  • Passionate commitment to supporting children to campaign; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with children of all backgrounds / ages and to ‘see the world through a child’s eyes’;
  • Understand of key tools, approaches and infrastructure required to support strong child campaigning around the world
  • Understanding of the external campaigning landscape, including in global political contexts.
  • First class communication skills: the ability to communicate complex information verbally and in writing in a clear, simple way to wider staff, partners and campaigns audiences
  • Experience and passion for nurturing, developing and supporting relationships with external networks and organisations to deliver campaigning impact
  • Ability to lead, chair and facilitate key global meetings, workshops and webinars to share best practice
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse global organisation
  • Understanding of and commitment to Save the Children’s values and ways of working

Desirable

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish, French and / or Arabic

We can offer circa £50,000 per annum (If based in the UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National Terms & Conditions (including pay and benefits) will apply.

This role can be based in the UK (London or Remote) or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location for the duration of the contract.
